Thought For The Day

Live simply,Love generously,

Leave the rest to God

Mother's Night Out!

Mother's Night Out 2008 has come and gone. For me, this was one of the best. The music was great, thanks to our own personal CD producer, Russ. He outdid himself this year. ("Sloppy Joe, Sloppy, Sloppy Joe".) He also was full of surprises. He gave each of us a very thoughtful Mother's Day gift. We were totally surprised (& Jamie was a little suspicious until she opened the bag. Bad Chia memories.) Thank you Russ from all four of us.

We went to the Melting Pot for dinner. If you've never been there, you should try it. It's a little pricier than some but you get a lot for the money. Don't go if you're in a hurry. We shared the "I got the email/heard it on WZZK special", two for $50.00.

We started with drinks. The highlight of Heather's night was when she ordered her drink, the young man asked for her ID. I ordered a Strawberry, Basil Lemonade. This is my new favorite drink. A little unusual and delicious. Can't wait to make them at home.

We started with 3 waiters and cheese fondue (over the course of the night, there were 3 more waiters serving us. Very good service.) We chose a traditional Cheddar & Swiss. We had Veggies, Apples & Bread to dip. We couldn't get enough.

Next course was a salad. Jamie and I tried their new Tropical Salad. Wow, it was an unusual and yummy blend of lettuces, tomato, mango, hearts of palm & candied nuts with some sort of vinegarette. I don't know if I could reproduce that one. It was really good.

Next came our entree'. We chose the vegetable broth to cook in. We had too little veggies (broccoli, potatoes & mushrooms). They were a little stingy there. They were not stingy with the meat. There was actually too much of that. We had Beef, Teriyaki Beef, Chicken & Shrimp. I really only liked the shrimp and ate everyone's share :>}~. A think for meat I would in the future choose another medium to cook it in.

We were given very specific instructions to avoid cross contamination and set to. We had a good time with it.

For dessert, ahhh, Chocolate Fondue with Strawberries, Pound Cake, Cheese Cake, Marshmallows (plain and chocolate cookie coated, yuk) and I think a bit more I can't remember. The Chocolate Fondue did not last long.

After that, Heather and Jamie had an after dinner drink and I didn't have decaf coffee.

I was very proud of my girls. They were ladies almost to the end. They just couldn't resist a food fight. The chocolate cookie coated marshmallows became little bombs to be tossed. Heather and Jamie got into a heated battle that lasted out to the car. I think the outcome was a draw. (Jamie did have a secret arms supplier.)

After dinner we put our CD on and headed for a really cool afterdinner hotspot. I guess I have to stop there, cause "What happens on Mother's Night Out, stays there!"

Can't wait for next year. I love you, girls
